Gold Rush

Klondike Kate
made men wait
to espy her
worldly treasures.

Nugget Nick
used his pick
to earn his gold;
he hailed from Cheshire.

With his pick in hand
Nick proved a man
and at the brothel
took Kate's measure.

For 200 yards
she held the cards
unwinding
at her leisure.

Nugget Nick
gave up his pick--
He could not
take the pressure.

-Klondike Kate was a real person, who lived and "worked" in Dawson City, Yukon at the turn of the 20th century. Her act included 200 yards of chiffon that she would slowly unravel, exposing herself to her audience.
